BASEBALL:

Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, each consisting of nine players. The game is widely popular in many countries, especially in the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Latin American countries. Here are some key aspects of baseball:

  1. Objective: The primary objective of the game is to score more runs than the opposing team. This is achieved by hitting a pitched ball and running around four bases arranged in a diamond shape.
  2. Field: A baseball field is typically a grassy diamond-shaped area with bases at its corners—first, second, third, and home plate. The bases are 90 feet apart.
  3. Positions: Each team has players assigned to specific positions on the field. The defensive positions include pitcher, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, shortstop, third baseman, and three outfielders (left fielder, center fielder, and right fielder).
  4. Innings: The game is divided into nine innings. An inning consists of each team having a turn to bat and a turn to field. The team with the most runs at the end of nine innings wins. If the game is tied, extra innings may be played.
  5. Pitching: The game begins with a pitcher from the defensive team throwing the ball to a batter from the offensive team. The batter’s goal is to hit the ball and reach base, while the defensive team aims to get the batter out through various means, such as strikeouts, catches, or tagging.
  6. Batting: The batter stands in a batter’s box adjacent to home plate, holding a bat. The pitcher throws the ball overhand, and the batter attempts to hit it with the bat.
  7. Scoring: A run is scored when a player successfully reaches home plate after touching all four bases in order—first, second, and third—without being tagged out or getting called out by the umpire.
  8. Defense: The defensive team tries to prevent the offensive team from scoring runs by getting batters out. This can be done through strikeouts, catches, force-outs, and other defensive plays.
  9. Equipment: The primary equipment used in baseball includes a bat, a ball, gloves for fielding, and protective gear such as helmets and catching gear for players.
